PARTNERSHIPS

Collingwood Football Club

The relationship between More Than Just Footy and the Collingwood Football Club is a deeply rooted partnership built on trust, shared purpose, and a long-standing commitment to community impact.

This connection dates back to 2010, when the program was formally known as the Collingwood Knights, laying the foundation for what has become one of the most powerful community football pathways for marginilized young people in Melbourne.

Since becoming an affiliated team of the Collingwood Football Club during NAIDOC Week in July 2021, the Collingwood Magpies Community Football Team has continued to grow as a genuine and culturally grounded pathway — one built on connection, opportunity, and community pride. The affiliation represents far more than a name; it symbolises belonging, identity, and the strength of walking Side By Side with one of Australia’s most iconic sporting clubs.

As a lead supporter and collaborative partner, CFC plays a pivotal role in uplifting and empowering young people through its ongoing commitment to the program. Supported by the Collingwood Football Club Community Foundation, the partnership strengthens and elevates the work of More Than Just Footy — enabling the delivery of high-impact, mentoring-led community outcomes through the Collingwood Magpies Community Team, which competes in the Victorian Reclink Football League.

This collaboration extends well beyond the football field. The program provides participants with access to a safe, inclusive and culturally connected environment where young people are supported to build confidence, resilience, leadership capability and positive life skills. For many, the program represents a critical turning point — a space where they feel seen, supported, and part of something greater than themselves.

Together, More Than Just Footy and Collingwood Football Club share a strong vision for community empowerment and youth development. We are incredibly proud of the impact achieved to date and remain deeply committed to growing this partnership into the future, continuing to create stronger pathways, stronger communities, and stronger futures for young people.

More Than Just Footy would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin nations, the traditional owners of the land and waterways on which we work, live and play.
