About Us

More Than Just Footy was established 2014, evolving from a key Crime Prevention initiative in 2008, the Collingwood Knights created in the urban setting of public housing in Melbourne to support at-risk individuals on the housing estates. With Victoria Park only a drop punt away the momentum quickly grained interest.

Fast forward to 2026 we are now an industry leading youth-focused sports-mentorship program for marginalised young people aged 15-25.

More Than Just Footy is committed to improving the well-being of young people at risk. A strong emphasis on positive impact, fun, physical health, reducing crime, provision of cultural safety and improving social health unpins our approach.

From humble beginnings, we have now connected with close to 1000 participants by planting seeds of hope through empowerment, mentorship, building resilience and a few premierships along the way.

We support young people from all walks of like, and meet them where their at. Such as involvement with the justice system, multicultural youth, AOD misuse, Aboriginal community members and those seeking referral pathways and support linkages with local football clubs.

Additional activities support job readiness, traditional Aboriginal games with renowned facilitators, meals together, group wellbeing workshops, development camps, lived experienced leadership opportunities, harm reduction, restorative justice sessions, cultural mentoring, structured fitness training, nutrition plans, football skill development with accredited coaches and collective community engagement.

More Than Just Footy would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin nations, the traditional owners of the land and waterways on which we work, live and play.
